The difference between packaging materials EPE, EVA packaging and sponge

    EPE (Expandable Polyethylene) is expandable polyethylene, also known as pearl cotton. It is a non-crosslinked closed-cell structure. It is a high-foam polyethylene product extruded from low-density polyethylene (LDPE) as the main raw material. It is composed of low-density polyethylene resin that is physically foamed to produce countless independent bubbles. It overcomes the shortcomings of ordinary styrofoam that are fragile, deformed and poor in recovery. It has many advantages such as water-proof and moisture-proof, shockproof, sound insulation, heat preservation, good plasticity, strong toughness, recycling, environmental protection, and strong impact resistance. It also has good chemical resistance.

    Sponges are mostly synthesized from polyisocyanates and polyols. The basic reaction is the reaction of polyols and polyisocyanates to produce polyurethane. The commonly used sponge is called soft polyurethane foam rubber. Polyurethane is a common polymer material in life. It is widely used in making various "sponge" products. And elastic materials for shock absorption and anti-friction purposes.

    EVA packaging is made by copolymerization of ethylene (E) and vinyl acetate (VA) and is called EVA for short. EVA is characterized by good softness, rubber-like elasticity, good flexibility at -50°C, good transparency and surface gloss, good chemical stability, good anti-aging and ozone resistance , Non-toxic. Good blending with filler, good coloring and molding processability. EVA packaging can be injection molded, extruded, blow molded, calendered, rotomolding vacuum thermoforming, foaming, coating, heat sealing, welding, etc. It can be used as a building material for waterproof, fire, and sound insulation.     The main differences between the three are as follows:

    1. It can be distinguished with the naked eye. Sponge is generally yellowish, very elastic, and relatively lighter than the three. EVA is a bit hard, usually black, which is the heavier of the three. EPE pearl cotton is generally white, which is very distinguishable from sponge. No matter how you press it, the sponge will be restored to its original state, while EPE pearl cotton will be hardened. When you press it down, you will hear a popping sound, and the place you press it will sink.

    2. EPE pearl cotton has wavy patterns, it looks like there are a lot of foam sticking together. It is very light. EVA packaging is solid, and the concentration is relatively heavy.
